Regular Season Round 4: Gorgan - Army 53-54

Date: November 14, 2016
Army has registered their first victory this season after two consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Gorgan, where they edged Shahrdari Gorgan (0-3) 54-53. The guests were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 18-14 run, which allowed them to win the game. Army forced 23 Shahrdari Gorgan turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Shahrdari Gorgan was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by the former international Arsalan Kazemi (200-90, college: Oregon) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds and the former international Vahid Dalirzahan (199-95) supported him with 17 points. Army's coach used entire bench in such tough game. Even 14 points and 8 rebounds by the former international forward Karam Ahmadian (198-77) did not help to save the game for Shahrdari Gorgan. Center Mahdi Moradinasab (202-92) added 11 points for lost side. Army maintains seventh position with 1-2 record. It was Shahrdari Gorgan's third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Chemidor. Army will play against higher ranked Kashan (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Shahrdari Gorgan will play against Naft Abadan and hopes to get finally their first victory.
