Regular Season Round 6: Anwil - Asseco 81-79
Date: November 16, 2016
There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Anwil (4-3) edged 8th ranked Asseco (3-3) in Wloclawek 81-79 on Wednesday. Anwil shot 28 for 42 from the free-throw line, while Asseco only scored eight points from the stripe. Asseco was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Serbian guard Nemanja Jaramaz (200-91, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with 29 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Pawel Leonczyk (203-86) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. International guard Filip Matczak (187-93) replied with 17 points and 5 assists and the former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84) added 13 points, 8 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Asseco. Four Anwil and five Asseco players scored in double figures. Asseco's coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Anwil moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Asseco dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Anwil will face AZS Koszalin (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Asseco will play against TBV Start (#17) and hope to win that game.
