Regular Season Round 4: Flamengo - Pinheiros 96-88

NBB top team - Flamengo (3-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Pinheiros (2-2) in Rio de Janeiro 96-88. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pinheiros. Flamengo dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Pinheiros' 48. Pinheiros was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international forward Olivinha Rodriguez (203-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and the former international Marcelo Machado (201-75, agency: Interperformances) who added 22 points during the contest. At the losing side American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) responded with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and center Ralfi Ansaloni (211-87) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Flamengo and four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Pinheiros' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Flamengo have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 3-0 record, which they share with Vitoria. Pinheiros at the other side dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Flamengo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Pinheiros will play at home against Paschoalotto/Bauru (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
