Everything could happen in Sichuan at the game between two tied teams. Both leader Whale and bottom-ranked Shenyang Golden Lions had identical 0-0 record. This time Whale used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Dandong 73-62 on Thursday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group B. American center Stefanie Dolson (196-92, college: Connecticut) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and guard Fangzhu Gong (170-91) chipped in 12 points and 8 assists. At the losing side American power forward Crystal Langhorne (188-86, college: Maryland) responded with 28 points and 9 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) and the former international center Dan Liu (194-87) scored 14 points and 4 steals. Whale (1-0) keeps a position of Group B leader, which they share with Bayi and Xinjiang. Loser Shenyang Golden Lions still closes the standings with one game lost. Whale will face league's second-placed Xinjiang in Urumqi in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shenyang Golden Lions will play at home against Shandong and look forward to get finally their first victory.
