Second Stage Round 13: Henan - Beijing 78-75

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Henan as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group A. Henan edged their biggest opponent Beijing Great Wall in Jiyuan 78-75. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Beijing Great Wall. It was a key game for the top position in Group A. Strangely Beijing Great Wall outrebounded Henan 31-19. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Beijing Great Wall's players. Nigerian-American forward Chiney Ogwumike (193-92, college: Stanford) nailed a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Pinzhen Huang accounted for 9 points and 11 assists. American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and international forward Ting Shao (183-89) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Beijing Great Wall in the defeat. Four Beijing Great Wall players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Shanghai and Shanxi. Defending champion Beijing Great Wall still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with Heilongjiang and Guangdong. Beijing Great Wall will play next round against Heilongjiang Chenneng trying to get back on the winning streak. Henan will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Shanxi Rui Flame at Taiyuan.
