The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Porvoon Tarmo's (4-7) home loss to fifth ranked Espoo United (5-3) 66-100 on Friday. The game without a history. Espoo United led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Porvoon Tarmo's 24. Espoo United forced 24 Porvoon Tarmo turnovers and outrebounded Porvoon Tarmo 45-23 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Espoo United looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Lauri Toivonen (201-91, college: UTRGV) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American guard Omar Calhoun (198-93, college: Connecticut) chipped in 22 points. Five Espoo United players scored in double figures. American forward Levi Giese (206-90, college: Lafayette) produced 16 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward B.J. Cardarelli (203, college: S.New Hampshire, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 14 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Espoo United moved-up to fourth place in Division. Loser Porvoon Tarmo dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Espoo United will face Oulun NMKY (#5) on the road in the next round. Porvoon Tarmo will play against Forssan Koripojat and hope to win that game.
