Regular Season Round 10: Toros - Indios 110-104
Date: November 18, 2016
Very expected game when 8th ranked Ciudad (3-7) lost to fourth ranked Toros (6-5) in Nuevo Laredo 104-110 on Friday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 35-18. But Ciudad won third quarter 34-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toros made 32-of-42 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game, while Ciudad only scored sixteen points from the stripe. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. American forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) to lead the effort and the former international center Lorenzo Mata (205-86, agency: Pro Sports) supported him with 16 points and 17 rebounds. Even a double-double of 30 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists by American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) did not help to save the game for Ciudad. His fellow American import guard John Taylor (185-89, college: Fresno Pacific) added 22 points for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Toros moved-up to third place. Loser Ciudad keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Santos. Toros will again meet at home Ciudad (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Ciudad will have a break next round.
