Regular Season Round 8: GOCOR-Sozh - Brest 72-84

Brest has finally registered their first victory this season after seven consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Gomel, where they defeated GOCOR-Sozh (1-5) 84-72 on Friday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 47-33 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Brest made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Brest outrebounded GOCOR-Sozh 55-35 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Dmitriy Dmitruk (198-81) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 22 rebounds and 6 assists. Swingman Pavel Moroz (193-88) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Brest players scored in double figures. Power forward Aleksandr Kopacev (203-95) produced 8 points and 17 rebounds and point guard Tsimafei Viaroukin (187-93) added 23 points and 7 steals respectively for the hosts. Despite that victory Brest went down to ninth position due to points difference. It was GOCOR-Sozh's fifth loss in a row. They dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. Brest will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. GOCOR-Sozh will play against Tsmoki II (#3) in Minsk and hope to win that game.
