Regular Season Round 10: Gipuzkoa GBC - Breogan 80-65

Date: November 18, 2016
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Gipuzkoa as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Gipuzkoa defeated one of their biggest challengers Leche Rio Breogan in San Sebastian 80-65. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leche Rio Breogan. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Gipuzkoa. Leche Rio Breogan was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American power forward Mike Carlson (206-91, college: Truman St., agency: Duran International) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Sergi Pino (197-87, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 14 points during the contest. Four Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Josep Franch (193-91) responded with 13 points and Nigerian-American forward Michael Fakuade (201-89, college: Ill.-Springfield) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gipuzkoa have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Leche Rio Breogan at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with 5 other teams. Leche Rio Breogan will play next round against Melilla Baloncesto trying to get back on the winning streak. Gipuzkoa will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Oviedo CB on the road.
