Regular Season Round 7: Perth - Bendigo 71-84

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Perth Lynx (6-3) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Bendigo Spirit (7-3) 84-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Perth Lynx. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 44-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Bendigo Spirit dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Perth Lynx's 34. It was a great evening for American forward Kelsey Griffin (188-87, college: Nebraska) who led her team to a victory scoring 31 points and 8 rebounds. Canadian power forward Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (188-91, college: Simon Fraser) helped adding 18 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side American swingman Samantha Whitcomb (178-88, college: Washington) responded with 39 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and power forward Carley Mijovic (196-94, agency: LBM Management) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Bendigo Spirit maintains first place with 7-3 record. Perth Lynx at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They share it with Dandenong. Bendigo Spirit are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Adelaide Lightning (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Perth Lynx will play against Canberra Capitals (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
