Regular Season Round 7: Empoli - Costa Masnaga 62-38

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Empoli. Third ranked Empoli faced their biggest opponent Costa Masnaga. Host Empoli (6-1) smashed guests from Masnaga (5-2) 62-38. It was a key game for the second position in A2. The game without a history. Empoli led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 23 Costa Masnaga turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Lithuanian forward Gabriele Narviciute (190-90) accounted for 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Masha Maiorano (180-82, agency: Two Points) came up with 8 points and 7 rebounds and Argentinian-Spanish power forward Erica Sanchez (186-76) added 6 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Costa Masnaga in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Empoli moved-up to second place in A2. Costa Masnaga at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. Empoli's next round opponent will be San Salvatore (#7) on the road which should be theoretically another easy game. Costa Masnaga will play against Team Crema (#8) and hope to win that game.
