Regular Season Round 9: BrGU - Victoria 61-72

Bottom-ranked BrGU COR Victoria (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 72-61 loss to fifth ranked Victoria (3-5) in Brest. The game was mostly controlled by Victoria. BrGU COR Victoria was better in third quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Victoria forced 21 BrGU COR Victoria turnovers. Strangely BrGU COR Victoria outrebounded Victoria 43-30 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. BrGU COR Victoria was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for guard Yana Yakhnavets (169-1) who led her team to a victory with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Yuliya Vasilevich (165-1) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Diana Tolochko (177-96) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Oksana Isaenko (173-1) added 21 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for BrGU COR Victoria. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Victoria maintains fifth place with 3-5 record. BrGU COR Victoria at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
