Regular Season Round 7: UCD Marian - Killester 74-62

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Dublin: UCD Marian (#3) and Killester (#5). UCD Marian (6-1) won against visiting Killester (4-3) 74-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Killester. UCD Marian dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Killester's 34. They outrebounded Killester 53-40 including 16 on the offensive glass. UCD Marian looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Killester's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when UCD Marian made 13 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish forward Dustan Moreira (202-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. American guard Mike Garrow (193-91, college: E.Connecticut) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American forward Jermaine Turner (195-74, college: Dowling) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 19 rebounds and point guard Ciaran Roe (170-93) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Killester. UCD Marian have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Swords Thunder. Killester at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. UCD Marian is looking forward to face Tralee (#5) on the road in the next round. Killester will play against KUBS and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
