Regular Season Round 9: Arenys - Cornella 64-72

There was a small surprise in Arenys del Mar where sixth ranked Cornella (5-3) defeated 3rd placed Arenys (4-3) 72-64 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 25-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Cornella forced 19 Arenys turnovers. Strangely Arenys outrebounded Cornella 43-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was point guard Bernat Alvarez (176-95) who scored 23 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Point guard Nestor Zamora (178-84) chipped in 10 points. Cornella's coach Marc Solanes used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was FYR Macedonian point guard Nenad Dimitrijevic (187-98) who recorded 20 points and 6 rebounds and GMBn forward Omar Toure (199-94) added 12 points and 14 rebounds respectively. Cornella moved-up to fourth place in Group C-A, which they share with Castellbisbal. Loser Arenys dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Cornella will face AEC Collblanc (#6) in L´Hospitalet in the next round. Arenys will play on the road against JAC Sants in Barcelona and hope to win that game.
