Regular Season Round 7: Ulriken - Asker 87-63

An exciting game was played in Bergen. Third ranked Ulriken faced 3rd placed Asker. Host Ulriken (4-2) smashed guests from Rykkinn (4-3) 87-63. The game was mostly controlled by Ulriken. Asker managed to win fourth quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ulriken dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Asker's 44. Ulriken forced 23 Asker turnovers and had a 28-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Asker's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Ulriken made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international forward Maren Hoff Austgulen (182-91, college: Idaho) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 blocks (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international guard Emilie Gronas (170-92, college: Duquesne) helped adding 18 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists and 7 steals. Four Ulriken players scored in double figures. Ulriken's coach DuRell Sandford felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Julie Wilborn (173-98) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and forward Ingrid Selvik (178-92) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Ulriken moved-up to second place. Loser Asker keeps the third position with three games lost. Ulriken's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Bergen to the arena .
