Regular Season Round 9: Andorra - Obradoiro 91-87
Date: November 19, 2016
Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Blusens Monbus (2-7) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Andorra (6-2) 91-87 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Blusens Monbus won third quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Andorra made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Blusens Monbus was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. French point guard Andrew Albicy (177-90) stepped up and scored 8 points and 13 assists for the winners and American guard David Walker (197-93, college: Northeastern) chipped in 16 points. The best for the losing side was American point guard Mickey McConnell (182-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 assists and the other American import center Shayne Whittington (209-91, college: W.Michigan) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Four Andorra and five Blusens Monbus players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Andorra. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Blusens Monbus keeps the fifteenth position with seven games lost. Andorra will face Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#15) in Madrid in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Blusens Monbus will play on the road against UCAM Murcia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
