Regular Season Round 9: Cantbasket - Ardoi 76-83

An interesting game was played in Santander where Ardoi (#2) beat host Cantbasket (#3) 83-76 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cantbasket. Ardoi shot 30 for 45 from the free-throw line, while Cantbasket only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Center Andres Zabaleta (200-94) stepped up and scored 31 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Ignacio Urtasun (187-80) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Ardoi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Lleon Tillman (198-92, college: W.Alabama) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and swingman Jaime Garcia (194-87) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ardoi maintains second place in Group A-A with 6-1 record behind leader Leon. Loser Cantbasket keeps the third position with two games lost. They share it with Valladolid Univ. and Easo. Ardoi will meet at home league's leader Estela in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cantbasket will play against Burgos and hope to secure a win.
