Regular Season Round 15: Nagoya DD - Ryukyu GK 66-74

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Diamond Dolphins (9-6) against fourth ranked Ryukyu GK (8-7) on Saturday night. Host Diamond Dolphins were defeated by Ryukyu GK in a tough game in Nagoya 66-74. The guests were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 17-12 Diamond Dolphins' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 74-66 at the end of the game. It was an exceptional evening for American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) who led the winners and scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) accounted for 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and guard Taito Nakahigashi (190-92) added 7 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Diamond Dolphins in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ryukyu GK moved-up to third place, which they share with Niigata Albirex and Chiba Jets. Diamond Dolphins lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with six games lost. They share it with Hitachi SR and Sanen. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Diamond Dolphins will play again at home against Ryukyu GK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
