Second Stage Round 14: Shanxi - Henan 73-98

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Shanxi Rui Flame (1-1) in Taiyuan on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Henan (2-0) 98-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Shanxi Rui Flame. It was a key game for the top position in Group A. It was a great shooting night for Henan especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-American forward Chiney Ogwumike (193-92, college: Stanford) who scored 26 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Jie Sun (187-91) chipped in 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Henan players scored in double figures. The former international center Wei Wei (206-89) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds and Tongtong Wu added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Henan maintains first position in Group A with 2-0 record, which they share with Shanghai. Shanxi Rui Flame at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Heilongjiang. Henan is looking forward to face Heilongjiang Chenneng (#4) in Harbin in the next round. Shanxi Rui Flame will play on the road against Beijing Great Wall and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
