Regular Season Round 7: Pordenone - Viterbo 60-47

Pordenone can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Viterbo (2-4) 60-47 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Pordenone. Viterbo was better in fourth quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Viterbo to just 6 points in third quarter. Pordenone forced 20 Viterbo turnovers and outrebounded them 46-28 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Lorela Cubaj (191-99) fired 9 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Guard Alessandra Boccardo (178-98) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Giulia Ciavarella (181-97) produced 16 points and center Adriana Cutrupi (188-96) added 2 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pordenone (1-5) left bottom position moving up to twelfth place in A2. Loser Viterbo dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Pordenone will face higher ranked Salerno (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
