Regular Season Round 9: Quart - Barbera 85-58

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both second ranked Quart and 3rd placed Barbera had identical 5-2 record. This time Quart used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Barcelona 85-58 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in Group C-B. The game without a history. Quart led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Barbera's 30. Quart forced 20 Barbera turnovers and outrebounded them 39-27 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was point guard Jordi Bataller (183-86) who scored 25 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Albert Masllorens (199-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Quart players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Brazilian forward Rafael Barbosa (191-91) who recorded 8 points and 7 rebounds and Maximo Castellanos added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Quart (6-2) keeps a position of Group C-B leader, which they share with Palma II and Pardinyes-L. Loser Barbera dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Quart will face Andorra II (#12) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Barbera will play against Igualada (#11) and hope to win that game.
