Second Stage Round 14: Sichuan - Xinjiang 73-93

Another exciting game was played in Sichuan between top-ranked Xinjiang and one of their biggest challengers Whale where Xinjiang (2-0) crushed Whale (1-1) on the road with 20-point difference 93-73. It was a key game for the top position in Group B. Xinjiang made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. ShiChing Peng orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. American power forward Candace Parker (193-86, college: Tennessee) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Five Xinjiang players scored in double figures. American center Tina Charles (193-88, college: Connecticut) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds and forward Beidi Cao (180-87) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Whale. Whale's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Xinjiang keeps a position of Group B leader, which they share with Bayi. Newly promoted Whale keeps the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Shandong. Xinjiang will play against league's leader Bayi Kylin in Yinzhou in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Whale will play on the road against Shandong in Jinan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
