Regular Season Round 9: Nanterre - Chalons-Reims 104-84

Everything went according to plan when third ranked JSF Nanterre (7-2) outscored at home 9th ranked Chalons-Reims (4-5) 104-84. It looked good early as Chalons-Reims took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then JSF Nanterre had a 33-18 second period charge getting the lead and Chalons-Reims was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 84-104. JSF Nanterre players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a good game for American swingman Spencer Butterfield (190-92, college: Utah St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who led his team to a victory with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. German point guard Heiko Schaffartzik (183-84) contributed with 14 points and 9 assists for the winners. Five JSF Nanterre players scored in double figures. American forward Steven Smith (203-83, college: La Salle) answered with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Tyler Cain (203-88, college: S.Dakota) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Chalons-Reims. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for JSF Nanterre. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Pau-Lacq-Orthez and Chalon. Chalons-Reims at the other side dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. JSF Nanterre's next round opponent will be Olympique Antibes (#14) on the road which should be another easy win for them. Chalons-Reims will play against Le Mans (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
