Not a big story in a game in Starogard where 13th ranked Polpharma (4-4) was defeated by eleventh ranked Trefl (4-3) 79-74 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 22-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Trefl made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for guard Piotr Smigielski (190-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Jakub Karolak (196-93, agency: BeoExcell) helped adding 10 points and 8 rebounds. Four Trefl players scored in double figures. Trefl's coach Zoran Martic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the losing side Lithuanian center Martynas Sajus (208-96) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Anthony Miles (185-89, college: Lamar) scored 17 points. Trefl moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Asseco and Energa Czarni. Loser Polpharma dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Trefl will face higher ranked MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Polpharma will play against TBV Start (#17) in Lublin and hope to win that game.
