Regular Season Round 4: Vasco Da G. - Mogi 94-70

The most surprising game was the first loss of Mogi (2-1) in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by twelfth ranked Vasco Da G. (2-2) 94-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mogi. They outrebounded Mogi 34-21 including a 27-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Vasco Da G. shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international point guard Welington Dos Santos (185-81) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 7 assists. American guard David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) contributed with 26 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Vasco Da G. players scored in double figures. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) replied with 28 points and 5 steals and American forward Tyrone Curnell (203-88, college: Valdosta St.) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Mogi. Vasco Da G. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Mogi at the other side keeps the fourth position with one game lost. They share it with L.Sorocaba and Campo Mourao. Vasco Da G. is looking forward to face SKY/Basquete (#11) in Aldeota in the next round. Mogi will have a break next round.
