Regular Season Round 9: Almassera - Lliria 61-70

There was no surprise in Valencia where bottom-ranked Almassera (0-7) was defeated by fourth ranked Lliria (5-2) 70-61 on Saturday. Almassera was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 27-14 charge of Lliria, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was point guard Vicente Faubel (182-83) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Center Candido Matoso (207-92) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Lliria's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Joaquin Rodenas (186-90) who recorded 11 points and 4 assists and forward Toms Einbergs (200-96) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Lliria moved-up to third place in Group E, which they share with Paterna. Loser Almassera still closes the standings with seven games lost. Lliria will face Paterna (#4) at home in the next round. Almassera will play against Cartagena (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
