Regular Season Round 9: Unicaja B - Meridiano Baza 67-83

Not a big story in a game in Malaga where 4th placed Unicaja B (3-4) was defeated by second ranked Meridiano Baza (5-2) 83-67 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-67. Meridiano Baza outrebounded Unicaja B 39-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Unicaja B was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was center Javier Mesa (206-77) who scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard David Garcia (180-93) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Meridiano Baza players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Jose Luis Ibanez who recorded 20 points and power forward Ignacio Rosa (204-99) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Meridiano Baza maintains second place in Group D-A with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader Leon. Unicaja B at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with four games lost. Meridiano Baza will face AEC Collblanc (#6) in L´Hospitalet in the next round.
