Regular Season Round 15: Niigata Albirex - Toshiba BT 79-95

The game between Top Four teams took place in Niigata. 3rd placed host Niigata Albirex (8-7) lost to first ranked Toshiba Thunders (12-3) 95-79. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Niigata Albirex was better in fourth quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toshiba Thunders made 21-of-24 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Toshiba Thunders especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Niigata Albirex's players. It was a good game for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). His fellow American import forward Ryan Spangler (203-91, college: Oklahoma) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Toshiba Thunders' coach Takuya Kita allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) answered with 24 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) added 24 points in the effort for Niigata Albirex. Toshiba Thunders have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-3 record, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Niigata Albirex at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round. Niigata Albirex will play again at home against the league's leader Toshiba Thunders and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
