Regular Season Round 11: Iskra Svit - Lucenec 105-76

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Iskra Svit (7-4) smashed at home 7th ranked Lucenec (4-6) 105-76 on Saturday. Iskra Svit dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Lucenec's 46. Iskra Svit had a 31-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Lucenec's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Josh Fleming (198, college: Ferris St.) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import point guard Evan Singletary (185-94, college: Albany) chipped in 20 points and 6 assists. Four Iskra Svit players scored in double figures. Iskra Svit's coach Michal Madzin felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Garrick Sims (203-91, college: Lake Erie) produced 23 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian Strahinja Stojacic (197-92) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Iskra Svit. They maintain fifth place with 7-4 record. Newly promoted Lucenec keeps the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Handlova. Iskra Svit will meet at home higher ranked Levice (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lucenec will play against Nova Ves (#11) and hope to secure a win.
