Regular Season Round 6: Boulogne - Poitiers 91-70
Date: November 19, 2016
SO Maritime Boulogne has finally registered their first victory this season after five consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they outplayed much higher ranked Poitiers (2-4) 91-70 on Saturday. The game without a history. SO Maritime Boulogne led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. SO Maritime Boulogne forced 20 Poitiers turnovers. The best player for the winners was Cuban power forward Grismay Paumier (204-88) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Tyreek Duren (183-91, college: La Salle) chipped in 11 points and 8 assists. Four SO Maritime Boulogne players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Guyanese Mike Joseph (203-94) who recorded 18 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) and forward Christophe Leonard (199-90) added 8 points and 5 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. SO Maritime Boulogne (1-5) left bottom position moving up to sixteenth place, which they share with Rouen and Boulazac. Loser Poitiers keeps the twelfth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. SO Maritime Boulogne will meet higher ranked Chorale de Roanne (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Poitiers will play against ALM Evreux (#9) and hope to secure a win.
