Regular Season Round 7: Polfarmex Kutno - PGE Turow 74-78

Everything went according to plan in Kutno where second ranked PGE Turow (6-2) beat 12th ranked AZS Polfarmex (3-4) 78-74 on Saturday. AZS Polfarmex was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-18 charge of PGE Turow, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. AZS Polfarmex was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Ukrainian-American forward Denis Ikovlev (200-86, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 9 rebounds. American center Kirk Archibeque (205-84, college: Fort Lewis) helped adding 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four PGE Turow players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Mateusz Bartosz (205-87) responded with 11 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Grzegorz Grochowski (180-93) scored 8 points and 7 assists. PGE Turow maintains second place with 6-2 record behind leader Torun. Loser AZS Polfarmex dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. PGE Turow will face Asseco (#7) in Gdynia in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. AZS Polfarmex will play at home against Stal Ostrow Wlkp. (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
