Regular Season Round 7: Adelaide - Bendigo 51-74

WNBL top team - Bendigo Spirit (7-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Adelaide Lightning (0-8) 74-51. The game without a history. Bendigo Spirit led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Adelaide Lightning's 30. Bendigo Spirit forced 20 Adelaide Lightning turnovers and outrebounded them 43-23 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for American forward Kelsey Griffin (188-87, college: Nebraska) who led the winners and scored 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Nadeen Payne (188-93) accounted for 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Five Bendigo Spirit players scored in double figures. Power forward Tayla Roberts (191-93) came up with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Jessica Good (186-94) added 13 points respectively for Adelaide Lightning in the defeat. Adelaide Lightning's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Bendigo Spirit maintains first place with 7-3 record. Adelaide Lightning at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Bendigo Spirit will play against Sydney Uni Flames (#6) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Adelaide Lightning will play again against the league's leader Bendigo Spirit and hopes to get finally their first victory.
