Regular Season Round 9: Joventut - Valencia 86-84

A very close game took place in Badalona between Joventut and Valencia Basket. Sixteenth ranked Joventut (3-6) got a very close home victory over 4th placed Valencia Basket (5-3). Joventut managed to escape with a 2-point win 86-84 on Saturday evening. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Joventut made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Jamaican center Jerome Jordan (215-86, college: Tulsa) who scored 15 points. Serbian forward Luka Bogdanovic (206-85) chipped in 16 points. Five Joventut players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Ukrainian center Viacheslav Kravtsov (212-87, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and French point guard Antoine Diot (193-89) added 14 points and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Joventut moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with UCAM Murcia and CAI Zaragoza. Loser Valencia Basket dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Unicaja and RETAbet BB. Joventut will meet higher ranked RETAbet BB (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Valencia Basket will play against Sevilla and hope to secure a win.
