Regular Season Round 16: Kagawa FA - Kumamoto V. 64-79

Date: November 19, 2016
Not a big story in a game in Takamatsu where 5th ranked Kagawa FA (3-12) was defeated by second ranked Kumamoto V. (13-2) 79-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kumamoto V.. Kagawa FA was better in second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kumamoto V. dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Kagawa FA's 28. They outrebounded Kagawa FA 46-35 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Joel James (208-94, college: N.Carolina) who added 8 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Shinobu Kon (190-87) scored 9 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Kumamoto V. have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Toyotsu FE. Kagawa FA lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 12 games lost. Kumamoto V. will have a break next round. Kagawa FA will play again at home against the league's leader Kumamoto V. (#1) and hope to win that game.
