There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Oleggio (3-5) beat on the road higher ranked Piombino (4-4) 64-47 on Sunday. Oleggio held Piombino to an opponent 23.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.3 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Piombino 47-34 including a 39-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Filiberto Dri (190-89) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Center Lorenzo Petrosino (203-92) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Oleggio players scored in double figures. Naturalized Serbian forward Marko Jovancic (195-93) produced 9 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Simone Bonfiglio (181-88) added 4 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Oleggio moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 11 other teams. Piombino lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Oleggio will face Domodossola (#15) at home in the next round where they are favorite.
