Regular Season Round 16: Aishin AW - Denso Iris 73-60

Aishin Wings has finally registered their first victory this season after 13 consecutive losses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Denso Iris (11-3) 73-60 on Sunday. Denso Iris were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 27-11 charge of Aishin Wings, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-95) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 7 rebounds and point guard CaiDeng Sakai (164-95) who added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. At the losing side international center Sakura Akaho (182-96) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and the former international guard Minami Iju (168-90) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Aishin Wings maintains tenth position with 1-13 record. Denso Iris at the other side keep the fifth place with three games lost. They share the position with Mitsubishi K.. Aishin Wings are looking forward to face higher ranked Hitachi Cougars (#9) in Hitachinaka in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Denso Iris will play at home against the league's second-placed Toyota A. (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
