Regular Season Round 16: Kyoto Hannar. - SeaHorses 78-93

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Kyoto Hannar. (6-10) was defeated at home by first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (12-4) 93-78 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Kyoto Hannar. was better in second period 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aishin Sea Horses made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Aishin Sea Horses had a 25-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) fired 35 points (!!!) (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. American forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) produced 13 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Lawrence Hill (203-87, college: Stanford) added 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-4 record. Kyoto Hannar. at the other side dropped to the fourth place with ten games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face Osaka Evessa (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Kyoto Hannar. will play against Ryukyu GK in Okinawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
