Regular Season Round 6: Sokhumi - Batumi 90-91

Important game to mention about took place in Tbilisi. Fifth ranked Batumi (3-3) saved a 1-point derby victory on the road edging 6th ranked Sokhumi (1-5) 91-90 in the fight for the fifth place. Sokhumi cut a 17-point halftime deficit to one at the end of the game. Batumi had a 37-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. International Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) scored 27 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American center Chris Pelcher (208-91, college: New Hampshire) chipped in 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks during the contest. Four Batumi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Dwayne Lathan (190-89, college: Indiana St.) with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and his fellow American import point guard Phillip Miller (185-91, college: Wiley) scored 29 points and 4 assists. Batumi maintains fifth position with 3-3 record. Sokhumi at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. They share the position with Olimpi. Batumi will play against Olimpi (#7) in Tbilisi in the next round. Sokhumi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Mgzavrebi.
