Regular Season Round 17: Fukushima - Iwate Big Bulls 79-65

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Iwate Big Bulls (2-14) were defeated on the road by second ranked Fukushima (10-6) 79-65 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Fukushima. Iwate Big Bulls was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) who scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Kenya Tomori (177-84) chipped in 15 points. Five Fukushima players scored in double figures. Point guard Koji Nagata (180-81) produced 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Nicchaeus Doaks (201-87, college: Chattanooga) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Fukushima have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-6 record having just three points less than leader Kumamoto V. Loser Iwate Big Bulls keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Fukushima will face Aomori Watts (#5) on the road in the next round. Iwate Big Bulls will play against Yamagata and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
