There was an upset when top-ranked Bisceglie (7-1) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Matera (4-3) 98-83 on Sunday. Matera looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Gionata Zampolli (189-85) who scored 23 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Guard Gianni Cantagalli (195-88) chipped in 25 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Four Matera players scored in double figures. Swingman Alessandro Poti (193-91) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Riccardo Antonelli added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Matera moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Catanzaro. Loser Bisceglie still keeps top position with one game lost. Matera will face Rimini (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bisceglie will play against Giulianova (#8) and hope to win that game.
