Very important is a road loss of second ranked Hapoel Holon (5-2) against fourth ranked Maccabi Rishon (4-3) on Sunday night. Visiting Hapoel Holon was defeated by Maccabi Rishon in Rishon Le-Zion 84-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hapoel Holon. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Maccabi Rishon made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Maccabi Rishon outrebounded Hapoel Holon 39-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. International swingman Shawn Dawson (198-93) fired 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Avi Ben-Chimol (194-85) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Shlomi Harush (185-87) produced 14 points and 6 rebounds and American swingman James Bell (198-92, college: Villanova) added 10 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Five Maccabi Rishon and four Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Holon's coach Dan Shamir rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with Hapoel T-A and Bnei Hertzeliyya. Hapoel Holon at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Maccabi Rishon will meet Maccabi Ashdod (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Holon will play against Hapoel Eilat (#11) and hope to secure a win.
