Regular Season Round 8: Giulianova - Valdiceppo 75-69

Very expected game when 13th ranked Valdiceppo (2-5) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Giulianova (4-4) 75-69 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Giulianova outrebounded Valdiceppo 38-23 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Giulianova especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Giulianova made 7 blocks. Valdiceppo was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Simone Colonnelli (185-91) who scored 25 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Swingman Simone De Angelis (201-86) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Naturalized Czech guard Filippo Meccoli Matejca (194-92) produced 20 points and Umberto Meschini (190-94) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Giulianova moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 9 other teams. Newly promoted Valdiceppo dropped to the fourteenth position with five games lost. Giulianova will face league's leader Bisceglie on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
