Regular Season Round 6: Mgzavrebi - Kutaisi 72-76

Bottom-ranked Mgzavrebi is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to second ranked Kutaisi (5-1) 76-72. Mgzavrebi was ahead by 3 points after three quarters before a 26-19 charge of Kutaisi, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 21 Mgzavrebi turnovers. Strangely Mgzavrebi outrebounded Kutaisi 44-32 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was international point guard Giorgi Tsintsadze (192-86) who scored 18 points and 8 assists. Azerbaijani guard Zaur Pashaev (188-83) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. Four Kutaisi players scored in double figures. Kutaisi's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Avtandili Lominashvili (204-92) who recorded 20 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Darnell Taylor (193-91, college: CS San Marcos) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively. They have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 5-1 record behind leader Dinamo Tbilisi. Mgzavrebi at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Kutaisi will have a break next round. Mgzavrebi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Sokhumi.
