Regular Season Round 7: Marghera - Fanola SML 69-54

Rather predictable result in Venezia where second ranked Marghera (6-1) beat 5th ranked Fanola SML (3-4) 69-54 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-54. Marghera dominated on the defensive end, holding Fanola SML to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Fanola SML 45-34 including 19 on the offensive glass. Guard Federica Iannucci (175-93) fired 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Carla Fabris (185-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Power forward Jasmine Keys (190-97) produced 8 points and 16 rebounds and guard Francesca Beraldo (170-99) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Fanola SML's coach Michele Tomei rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Marghera maintains second place in A2 with 6-1 record behind leader Sesto SG. Newly promoted Fanola SML dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Marghera will face Marinella (#14) in Santa Marinella in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Fanola SML will play at home against Vicenza (#3) and hope to win that game.
