Regular Season Round 9: Sammic ISB - Lucentum 75-53

Third defeat of league's leader Meridiano Alicante (6-3) against second ranked Sammic ISB (7-2) 75-53 was the most important game of the last round. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-53. Sammic ISB outrebounded Meridiano Alicante 35-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for swingman Ander Garcia (194-89) who led his team to a victory with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Ibon Guridi (193-92) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Power forward Guillermo Rejon (206-77) answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Carles Marzo (190-92, agency: Duran International) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Meridiano Alicante. Meridiano Alicante at the other side dropped to the second place with three games lost. They share the position with Granada and Avila. They were replaced at the leadership position by Sammic ISB. Meridiano Alicante will play next round against L'Hospitalet trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Sammic ISB will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Zornotza in Amorebieta-Echano.
