Regular Season Round 8: Kekava - Riga/Ridzene 100-76

Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Kekava (10-0) outleveled at home bottom-ranked Riga/Ridzene (0-8) 100-76 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Kekava. Riga/Ridzene was better in fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Kekava forced 19 Riga/Ridzene turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Nauris Miezis (189-91) who scored 46 points (!!!), 5 assists and 6 steals. Power forward Edvards Jasuks (195-97) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. Center Nikita Molodovs (202-93) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Edgars Lacis (191-98) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Five Kekava and four Riga/Ridzene players scored in double figures. Kekava have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Newly promoted Kekava maintains first position with 10-0 record, which they share with Turiba. Riga/Ridzene at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with eight games lost. Kekava will face VEF skola (#6) in Riga in the next round where they are favorite.
