Regular Season Round 17: Ryukyu GK - Kyoto Hannar. 54-69

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Ryukyu GK (8-9) lost to fifth ranked Kyoto Hannar. (7-10) in Okinawa 54-69 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Kyoto Hannar.. Ryukyu GK was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American players dominated the game. Marcus Dove (206-85, college: Oklahoma St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Reyshawn Terry (203-84, college: N.Carolina) answered with 20 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Ryukyu GK. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kyoto Hannar. maintains fifth place with 7-10 record. Loser Ryukyu GK dropped to the third position with nine games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will face Shiga L-Stars (#6) at home in the next round. Ryukyu GK will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
