Regular Season Round 12: BC Nokia - KTP Basket 94-75

Date: November 23, 2016
Fifth ranked BC Nokia (6-6) crushed at home 9th ranked KTP-Basket (3-8) by 19 points 94-75, which is the biggest margin this round. The game was mostly controlled by BC Nokia. KTP-Basket was better in third quarter 26-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded KTP-Basket 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Senegalese forward Papa Dia (208-87, college: SMU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and forward Eldar Skamo (198-86) supported him with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Five BC Nokia players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 6 rebounds by American forward William Walker (197-87, college: Bethel, IN) did not help to save the game for KTP-Basket. Jamaican-American power forward Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) added 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. BC Nokia maintains fifth position with 6-6 record. KTP-Basket lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with eight games lost. They share the position with Korihait. BC Nokia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. KTP-Basket will play on the road against the league's second-placed Joensuun Kataja (#2) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
