Regular Season Round 9: Almat.Legion - Kazygurt 106-95

The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Almat.Legion as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Almat.Legion defeated 4th placed Kazygurt in Alma-Ata 106-95. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kazygurt. Almat.Legion dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Kazygurt's 32. They outrebounded Kazygurt 59-42 including 19 on the offensive glass. Almat.Legion looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was international guard Yuriy Kozhanov (190-90) who scored 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international center Vsevolod Fadeikin (206-85) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Ulykbek Polatov (189-98) who recorded 32 points and 4 assists and swingman Kirill Nikulochkin (190-88) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Kazygurt players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Almat.Legion (7-1) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Tobol and Kapshagay. Kazygurt at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Bars. Kazygurt will play next round against strong Kapshagay trying to get back on the winning streak. Almat.Legion will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Barsy-2 in Atyrau.
