Regular Season Round 5: Army - Kashan 84-59
Date: November 24, 2016
The game in Tehran supposed to be also quite interesting. 5th ranked Kashan (2-3) played at the court of seventh ranked Army (2-2). Army smashed Kashan 84-59 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Army. Kashan was better in second period 19-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kashan 44-28 including 33 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was the former international Arsalan Kazemi (200-90, college: Oregon) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 20 rebounds. The former international Vahid Dalirzahan (199-95) chipped in 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Army players scored in double figures. Serbian swingman Maksim Kovacevic (196-87, agency: SPORTlab Agency) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Arash Najafi (-77) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Army moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Kashan dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Army's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tehran to the arena Chemidor.
